Origin of name:
Uzboi: Dry riverbed in Russia.
Holden: Edward Singleton; American astronomer (1846-1914).
Ladon: Ancient name for Greek river.
Maragritifer: "Pearl Bay," after Pearl Coast, South India.
A név eredete:
Uzboi (Узбой) (türkménül: uz: mentén, boju: folyó): Az Amu-darjából Türkmenisztánon át a kaszpi-tengerbe ömlő folyó, mely a 18. században kiszáradt, elpusztítva a körülötte kialakuló türkmén civilizációt. Az 0950-es években tervezték, hogy csatornaként feltöltik vízzel, de ez a türkmén terv nem valósult meg.
Holden: Edward Singleton; amerikai csillagász (1846-1914).
Ladon: A Λάδωνας, Ládonas görög folyó ókori neve. Árkádiából a Jón-tengerbe ömlik. Érdekesség, hogy egy mesterséges tó is található is mentén (Technitis Limnis Ladonas), mely nem tévesztendő össze a marsi ladon-tóval ill. Ladon-medencével.

Maragritifer: Margaritae: igazgyöngy. A dél-indiai gyöngyhalászatáról elnevezett  partról. 


Geologic description and interpretation: 

Uzboi-Holden-Ladon-Margaritifer (UHLM):  These valley systems converge on Margaritifer Basin, a confluence plain shared with the Uzboi-Holden-Ladon-Margaritifer Valles meso-outlflow system (UHLM) that drains northward from Argyre.[1]  The Ladon Valles system is the largest, draining into and through two multi-ringed impact basins.[2] This sytem is named "Uzboi-Ladon-M (ULM) Valles basin overflow system", explaining: "the third valley in the sequence has no formal name"[3] The "M" Valles was named Morava Valles in 2008. The same system is also named "Uzboi-Ladon-Margaritifer (ULM) system". [4] Paraná-Loire system. [5] [6] connected by Erythraeum Chaos also called "Paraná Basin".

The Early Noachian Ladon and Holden multi-ring impact basins (distinguished from the younger Holden crater) have inner/outer ring diameters of ~500/1000 and ~300/600 km.[1]

Az Argyre Planitiából kiinduló Uzboi-Holden-Ladon-Margaritifer (UHLM) völgyrendszer a Margaritifer-medencébe torkollik. A Ladon és Holden-medencék ősi többgyűrűs medencék, melyeket valaha víz tölthetett ki.
