Family excursion

You are planning an experiment: growing grapes in a sealed greenhouse. Grapes grow best on sunny slopes, which always face the equator, and volcanic soil is ideal. Nearby valleys on the mountainside are needed for irrigation. Where should you plant the vines? (For example, map sheets 11 and 22.)

You are designing a city in a deep basin protected by a raised rampart, with a central peak offering a fine view. Which places are suitable? Choose from the crater samples page.

You work for the Travel Mars agency. A customer wants to spend a summer holiday on the shore of an ancient lake basin with a good view of a volcano. Find such a place. (Map sheet 22.)

You are orbiting Mars and choosing a landing site. The captain requires a small annual temperature range between summer and winter—look near the equator—and flat ground so the ship does not tip over. Use map sheets 5, 7, 9, 10, 15 and 2.
