You must design a rover for a dangerous, unfriendly planet. Its atmosphere oxidises iron components; thick, hard cylinders obstruct the way for kilometres, their tiny reusable solar panels blocking sunlight; and fast-moving hazards may take the rover apart. Yes, this is Earth. What new protective features will you need compared with Martian rovers?
Design an Earth-proof rover. Its equipment should protect it from rain, snow and ice, help it cross asphalt roads, protect it from over-curious mammals, take it through forests and scrub, and carry it across rivers. Name and describe its new equipment.
