Arabia Terra is an ancient, cratered highland. Along its margin lie valleys ending in deltas, but its interior has few valleys and many crater floors that collect sand. Terra Sabaea, in contrast, is full of ancient valley networks. For centuries, the wind has spread fresh, dark lava sand from the Syrtis Major volcano.
