Tibor Hirsch reporting
Crew 71 official simulation-time was between 13. 04. 2008 and 26. 04. 2008, so this final report refers to this period, which is in fact less than two weeks.
Health condition:
There was no reported illness during our stay, some minor complains
did occur. In the first week some people had headache, red, dry, slightly
burned skin, but nothing serious. In the second week, one
member of the crew (the HSO himself) complained on a pain in his back,
which was getting better only after four days, just before the end of our
mission. This is a regular health problem of his, with usual
symptoms, and he cured it with his usual pain relief pills.
Medication:
Pain relief pills were used against headache, pain in the back. Moisture
was used against skin-dryness.
Injuries:
No injuries did occur.
Nutrition:
Sufficient food supply we had. More fruit and vegetable would
have beeen desirable, at least in frozen or caned form. Preparing drinking
water for the table, or giving an easy access to the drinks, was
important. The crew did not gain, did not loose weight, worth mentioning.
Sources of danger:
The very short training for ATV driving, right after arrival, was not
satisfactory. Using the quads in the field gave us lost of risky surprises.
The initial training in the future should concentrate on
proper use of ATV in deep slopes, driving through gaps, and the towing
methods in case of breakdown. The bad condition of the walkie-talkie devices
makes the communication
uncertain during a long EVA. Even if people go together, someone may
slow down, got lost in a very short time, sometimes without any chance
of signaling.
26. 04. 2008.
