Solar Distance
Actual solar distance affects the orbital speed of Mars and the solar constant
at Mars. Farther away from the Sun (249 million km, aphelion) Mars receives less
energy from the Sun and days "pass slowly" (Ls changes slower). Closer
to the Sun (205 million km, perihelion) Mars receives more energy from the Sun
and days "pass faster" (Ls changes faster).
